Relationship with Jesus .. how can it be?
This happens with our daily communion with Jesus, reading his word, walking in step with him, meditating on his word, the bible!!
Worshiping him daily, our lord seeks our willingness to worship him daily!! I was reading an article on knowing Jesus and the author quotes "The act of worship itself implies a prerequisite of feeling connected to someone or something in order to show adoration or reverence. Therefore in order to truly worship God we must acquire that connectedness"
Like our Lord Jesus was and is always connected to us, in John 16:7-14- When the Lord departed to be with the Father, he sent his Holy Spirit for us.. he is still connected with us always, always....
We need to surrender completely to him to stay connected with him, seek him (he invites us with open arms) so we can find him.
In Acts 7 which is Stephen's speech, he remembers Joseph (vs 9-10). If you remember the story of Joseph, he never gave up on the Lord even in his worse situations. And the lord honored Joseph, because he stayed connected with the Father. God's word says "God was with Joseph..". Joseph developed intimacy with the Lord with his daily communion. In turn the Lord gave Joseph wisdom and enabled him to gain the good will of the people around him.
In the same manner, Moses went searching for the Lord and found him (vs 30-32). I love how Stephen explains this... "As he went over to get a closer look, he heard the Lord say.."
That's what happened, Moses went close (went seeking) and heard the Lord. Moses gained a relationship with the Lord, gained intimacy with the Lord.
What did the Lord do? In turn the Lord made Moses powerful in speech and action.
If we look at Stephen himself, a Martyr for the Lord. He had that passion for the Lord, a radical for the Lord Jesus. In Acts 6:5, a man full of faith and holy spirit, vs 8, 10: a man filled with god's grace and power. Stephen had an intimacy with the Lord, a relationship with the Lord so powerful and strong that he stood for Jesus, served him and gave his life for the sake of the call...
Jeremiah, a prophet for the Lord had intimacy with the Lord, a relationship that the Lord called him to be his messenger. In Jeremiah 1: 9-10, God's word says "the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said.." I'm just overwhelmed just reading this and I can only imagine what Jeremiah's experience was..
Can we call this an Intimacy with the Father, a Relationship with the Lord!!
Jesus wants to have a relationship with us, all we need to do is to allow him to hold our hand, communion by walking with him daily. An intimacy with Jesus calls for stepping close to look and hear him speak to us, listening to him so he can touch us and change our lives....
