I was reading this interesting article today morning which talks about the important things in life and looking at scripture from 1 Timothy 6:10 where Paul is teaching and warning Timothy on the way of life.

For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.-1 Timothy 6:10

The learning is pretty powerful, see vs 6-10, the importance of being 'content' with what the lord has given us. The riches of this world, money are all temporary and giving importance to such this leads to temptation which means it takes us away from the Lord. The important thing is being content in the Lord.

Paul also teaches to pursue the important things: righteousness, godliness, love, faith, perseverance, gentleness. I also think walking in humility is important. This reminds me of Patrick Fung whom I heard at Urbana, who left everything to serve the Lord in an unknown country. I can never forget his words from the conference: "God's work done in god's way, god's timing will not lack god's provision"

The climax in all this vs 17-19, how the love for money can wander one way from truth and faith. 
Its important to hold on to what matters the most: being content, love, faith, righteousness...

Its important to remember to be content with what the Lord has provided and using it to glorify him...
