UN votes to implicitly recognize a Palestinian state.

The UN General Assembly has voted to upgrade Palestinians’ diplomatic status to a “non-member observer state,” thus implicitly recognizing a Palestinian state. This comes despite strong opposition from the US and Israel. 

The Palestinian bid has been upheld with 138 votes in favor, 9 against and 41 abstentions. 

Addressing the General Assembly on Thursday Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said the historic vote was the last chance to save the two-state solution. He also told the meeting that it “is being asked today to issue the birth certificate of Palestine.” 

In his speech Abbas mentioned Israel’s deadly assault on Gaza that took place this month and stressed that the Palestinians would accept "no less than the independence of the state of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital." 

The Israeli government has described Abbas’s speech, which was met with a standing ovation at the General Assembly, as “defamatory and venomous.”"The world watched a defamatory and venomous speech that was full of mendacious propaganda against the IDF (army) and the citizens of Israel," the Israeli PM’s office said in a statement. 

Israeli UN ambassador, Ron Prosor, warned the General Assembly that “the Palestinians are turning their backs on peace.'' 

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has urged the parties to renew their commitment to negotiating a peace deal. 

However the US Ambassador to the UN, Susan Rice said the UN's vote on the Palestinians’ status places further obstacles in the path of peace. "Today's grand pronouncements will soon fade and the Palestinian people will wake up tomorrow and find that little has changed," she told the assembly with a somber voice. "This resolution does not establish that Palestine is a state." 

The vote could be seen as an embarrassing defeat for Washington, which has always been a staunch ally of Israel.

The other day I was watching a news program, you know like I am always, and one of the commentators mentioned that while it may seem to appear that America has always presented itself as a neutral arbitrator concerning the conflict that exists between the Palestinians and Israelis, such is not the case.

In fact the United State's unabashed support for all things Israeli, has made them favor Israel over the Palestinians is virtually ALL negotiations going back to the birth of Israel itself.

The effect of that is dramatically illustrated in the maps below.

So what does this mean? Well it means that the Palestinians can now go directly to the UN and have their voice heard. This recognition constitutes an important endorsement of the legitimacy of their claim to statehood, potentially strengthening their hand in talks with Israel on major sticking points.

In terms of substantive gains, it will assist a Palestinian attempt to join the International Criminal Court and to be able to ask the body to investigate acts committed by Israel as potential war crimes.

This is going to make it harder for the Israelis to dismiss them as simply a "terrorist network" and provide Palestine with the opportunity to present their case on a more equal footing.

To quote Joe Biden, it is "kind of a big fucking deal." Even if Israel and America refuse to publicly recognize it as such.

Heard this term lately? "Crossfit"

Its all about the workout to keep your body fit. As hard as it is, the workout helps keep your body fit, from push ups, box jumps, weights..  and more to strengthen your body and to keep it fit. In the past few years, I guess I've turned out to be more health conscious and to keep myself fit. Good for me!! ;-) Crossfit hurts when you're doing it but your body feels good and fit. yaayyy for good workout!!! : D and bad for me when I get lazy ;-)
So I was thinking about this term and how it applies to our lives spiritually and what role Jesus plays in "Crossfit". Its simple. Our Lord Jesus gave his life for us on the CROSS so we can be forgiven and if each of us submit ourselves to him and remember the sacrifice at the cross, repent for our sins, he makes us spiritually FIT!

His word speaks his sacrifice for us, In Matt 20:28 - "The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many"

I believe this is something very important that every single should find in the Lord. If the Lord wants one to be single till a certain period of time, one needs to learn and understand how the Lord wants them to use that singleness, maybe to be an encouragement to someone, to serve someone, to support, to honor and glorify the lord with what he has blessed one with (this is a CONSTANT) and most importantly to draw near to him (this is a CONSTANT and should not change..)

I read this inspiring article on boundless website. Its so true and important that as a child of god, being single and waiting, we should make our self flexible to serve the lord (flexible schedule) and also find ways to serve the Lord (from big to small things).

There are few things that caught my attention and made me think of how am I utilizing my time serving the Lord serving him and waiting joyfully..

- Doing something radical for the Lord, stepping up intimacy in your walk with the Lord.
- Focusing on pleasing the Lord (drawing near to him, undivided attention on him alone)
- Going big for Jesus!!
- Giving as much as you can ( from time to serve where the Lord has placed you, to financial help as the Lord has blessed you...)
- Purity being single
- Encouraging other singles who need some encouragement.
- Modeling what it means to wait on the Lord with great joy!

Every person who is still single should think about where and how the Lord is calling each one to serve, this includes me too...

I hope this encourages you if you're reading it and wondering where the Lord is calling you to serve him or maybe you are already serving the Lord where he's placed you.

All that matters is honoring and glorifying the name of Jesus and drawing near to him!!!

Is there really a MORE deserving choice for Time magazine's Person of the Year?

As you know every year Time chooses their person of the year.

There are a lot of really good choices this year such as Stephen Colbert (his work with those SuperPAC's was invaluable), Hillary Clinton (Duh!), and President Obama (Double duh!)

There also some, in my opinion, stupid choices. Such as Kim Jong Un (WTF?), Paul Ryan (Seriously?), and Karl Rove, (I just thew up in my mouth a little.)

However after much deliberation I think the choice should be clear.

This of course is Malala Yousafzai the incredibly brave little Pakistani girl who defied those attempting to suppress her desire to learn, and was ultimately shot in the face for her heroism.

Here is how Time magazine makes her case:

At first, the Pakistani girl blogged anonymously about her desire to go to school without fear in a part of the country where the Taliban had once imposed strict Shari'a law. Then, with the surprising encouragement of her devout Muslim father, Malala Yousafzai wrote in her own name and revealed her face to the world, a symbol of young women around the world seeking empowerment. She became the subject of a documentary and a celebrity of sorts in the world of nonprofit organizations. Who knew that such prominence would put her life at risk? On Oct. 9, 2012, Taliban gunmen boarded her school bus, sought her out and shot her in the head. Eventually airlifted to a hospital in Britain, she survived her severe wounds. In the meantime, Malala, now 15, has become an inspiration not only in her native Pakistan — where the culture wars over women's rights and religious diversity have taken many violent turns — but all around the globe. Malala is now a first name that hundreds of thousands of people know. But in a way, hers is an even more moving story, because the saga is not just of a brave young girl but also of a father willing to risk local opprobrium to raise his daughter — not a son — as a proud example for the world. It is among the tenderest of stories in the world of conservative Islam. 

Now this is only my opinion, and of course you are welcome to disagree, but personally I cannot think of a more deserving recipient of this honor. Nor can I think of a more profound message to send to those who felt they had the right to snuff out her life, and quiet her voice, simply because it did not agree with their fundamentalist from of religion. 

P.S. I lied really DO think there is a more profound message to send and that would be by honoring her with the Nobel Prize for Peace. And trust me I will be advocating for that as well.

Yesterday Rachel only confirmed that theory for me.

And then today Susan Rice met with Republican Senator Susan Collins, who then brought up a whole new set of reasons for NOT supporting Rice's appointment as Secretary of State: 

Collins also noted that Rice was working at the State Department in 1998 — and was the assistant secretary for African Affairs — when U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were bombed. Requests for additional security at both outposts had been denied and Collins said she asked Rice on Wednesday whether she had been involved in those decisions. 

“She [Rice] said she would have to refresh her memory, but that she was not directly involved in turning down the request,” Collins said. But the senator said Rice must have been aware of the requests.

So to be clear, now that they are losing traction with the Benghazi excuse for questioning Susan Rice's qualifications, they are now going ALL the way back to 1998 to find a reason.

Seriously?

And if that were not enough of a tell, then Collins followed that statement up with this:

"I think John Kerry would be an excellent appointment and will be easily confirmed by his colleagues."

And there you have it. The argument now is that Susan Rice is a deeply flawed candidate, for a number of evolving hard to define reasons, but damn that John Kerry, who the Republicans have NEVER supported for ANYTHING, sure makes a fine choice for Secretary of State. And what a coinky dink, his appointment also opens up a very valuable Senate seat.

Give me a fucking break!  This could not be more obvious if they had "We want John Kerry's Senate seat!" tattooed on their foreheads.

I know what you're thinking, "Gryphen, WHY would you pick on the lovely Paz de la Huerta, famous model, and one of the stars of HBO's scintillating series "Boardwalk Empire?"

Well I wouldn't obviously. I have no bone to pick with Paz de la Huerta, and in fact have watched several episodes of "Boardwalk Empire," and enjoyed them immensely.

I'm not talking about her. I'm talking about the pathetic creature behind her.

Oh you can almost see in her bloodshot eyes how jealous she is that the cameras are trained are the much more glamorous starlet, while at the same time hoping like crazy that nobody recognizes her in her frumpy woolen poncho/comforter from her bedroom in Wasilla.

I assume that since this picture was posted yesterday that she was arriving to support her daughter's last night as the most pathetic contestant to ever appear on Dancing with the Stars.

Though I have to say I don't remember seeing her in the crowd.

Is it possible that she had other business in the City of Angels? Or perhaps the dress code for audience members demanded that they not be wearing the bedding from their house in lieu of actual clothing.

Seriously how smart can these so-called "Redditors" be?

In an unusual step, a U.S. congressman is proposing a two-year ban on all new federal legislation regulating the Internet. 

Rep. Darrell Issa, a Republican from California who has been an advocate for Internet freedoms, has posted online a draft of his legislation, the Internet American Moratorium Act of 2012. The bill would "create a two-year moratorium on any new laws, rules or regulations governing the Internet." 

Issa first posted the complete text of the bill Monday on Project Madison, the nickname for a crowdsourcing platform that allows citizens to amend individual passages of legislation by adding or striking language. On Tuesday, he posted a link to the bill on Reddit, the social news site, where users quickly voted it to the top. 

"Together, we can make Washington take a break from messing w/ the Internet," Issa said on Reddit, where he also invited users to suggest changes to the proposed bill. He said he will begin taking questions about it from Reddit users Wednesday morning.

I don't trust Darrell Issa as far as I can throw him, and someday I'd like to find out just how far that might be, and the overwhelmingly liberal users of Reddit were no less suspicious. Here are a few of the responses that he received:

Hey Darrell, why did you vote for CISPA? 

He's a wolf in sheep's clothing. He doesn't support SOPA, but was a co-sponsor of CISPA because it wasn't as widely publicized. He's been constantly lying to everybody regarding his stance on net neutrality for the past two years. 

His legislation's name is as Orwellian as the PATRIOT Act, come to think of it. Issa's shown himself to be a sleaze time and again...I'm certain he has an ulterior motive. 

Internet lawyer here. This bill, as currently drafted, is a bogus, apparently fraudulent attempt to impose a wholesale ban on all federal regulations regardless of their impact on the internet. Reddit, we are being pandered to by a Republican Party whose future existence is threatened by its tanking approval ratings among the "young."

There were a few who tried to come to Issa's aid and provide a more neutral response, but overall there was mostly open hostility and anger at the idea that he thought they were that easily manipulated.

Overall it was very gratifying to see that the Redditors, mostly comprised of the very young people who we are counting on to move this country forward, did not fall for what I believe was a fairly obvious attempt to gain their support in a transparently sneaky fashion.

Perhaps Issa might think twice before trying this kind of bullshit again.

This represents one of my pet peeves, the idea that there has to be a "Why" to existence.

Why are we here? What does it all mean? What is our purpose?

How arrogant to believe that everything has to have a purpose just to satisfy OUR desire to make information conform to our limited ability to understand it. And then to simply create a purpose in our fertile imaginations, while demanding that everybody accept it as fact, is even more egregious.

Perhaps things simply are, they just exist, with no definable purpose except that they can.

Then wouldn't it be up to each individual sentient being to determine their own purpose for themselves? Or is that simply TOO much responsibility for most people?

And while we're on the subject of understanding, just what is it about human beings that makes them feel entitled to an eternal life?

Everything we see, and touch, and experience has a shelf life. All of it, at least on this planet, is finite and has both a beginning and an end.

Yet as a species we have created an alternative possibility for ourselves that includes the possibility that after we take our last breath we simply move on to some other plane of existence.

But why do we feel that we deserve this "Get out of Death Free" card?

Is it that we feel that we are somehow better and more deserving than the other creatures that share our planet? Or are we just so arrogant that we simply cannot imagine a universe without our presence?

Personally I feel that it is the very brevity of our existence which provides the impetus to do something of value with it. To provide love to others. To create something that will last past your final hours. To make a small or profound positive change that will better the lives of those around you.

How would we know how precious life is, if it was eternal?

I am just honored to have had the opportunity to live, when so many others were denied that choice. And can only hope that I have left laughter in my wake, created light in the darkness, and loved often and without restraint.

Really what more do I deserve, what more could want?

Fox News Channel executive vice president Michael Clemente on Monday responded to the much-discussed interview with Tom Ricks, claiming that the Pulitizer Prize winner apologized privately for criticizing the network's coverage of the September attack in Benghazi, Libya. In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Clemente accused Ricks of using the interview to generate publicity for his new book, The Generals. Clemente also seemed to take exception to the lack of public contrition from Ricks. 

“When Mr. Ricks ignored the anchor’s question, it became clear that his goal was to bring attention to himself -- and his book," Clemente told THR via email. "He apologized in our offices afterward but doesn’t have the strength of character to do that publicly." 

But that's news to Ricks, who told THR in his own email that he never offered an apology to Fox — privately or publicly. 

"Please ask Mr. Clemente what the words of my supposed apology were. I'd be interested to know," Ricks said. "Frankly, I don't remember any such apology."

Oh, snap! That is going to leave mark!

Update: Mr. Ricks provided more information to Politico:

“Clemente is making it up, and it is sloppy of Hollywood Reporter to not ask him for specifics — what exactly am I alleged to have said? — and also to seek a response from me,” Ricks wrote in an e-mail. “Why are they doing this? Because their MO is that when the facts aren’t on their side, they attack the person.” 

However don't think this clearly coordinated attack against Susan Rice is over. Just a little while ago Ambassador Rice met with Senators John McCain, Lindsey Graham, and Kelly Ayotte.

Ambassador Susan Rice say they are more troubled now over her initial explanations about the deadly Sept. 11 raid in Libya.

Let's face it these people are still butt hurt that Obama won the election, and THEIR candidate and policies were rejected. The only hope they have left, considering how squeaky clean Obama has been during his first term, is to manufacture some distracting scandal they can use to turn the public's attention away from their own failures and inability to compromise for the benefit of the American people.

Personally I believe that the ONLY way you would still consider this Benghazi thing to be a scandal is that all of your information comes solely from Fox News and Right Wing radio.

On Tuesday’s 700 Club, a viewer wrote Robertson that her “biggest fear is to not have my children and husband next to me in God’s Kingdom” because they question why the Bible could not explain the existence of dinosaurs. 

“Look, I know that people will probably try to lynch me when I say this, but Bishop [James] Ussher wasn’t inspired by the Lord when he said that it all took 6,000 years,” the TV preacher explained. “It just didn’t. You go back in time, you’ve got radiocarbon dating. You got all these things and you’ve got the caucuses of dinosaurs frozen in time out in the Dakotas.” 

“They’re out there,” he continued. “So, there was a time when these giant reptiles were on the Earth and it was before the time of the Bible. So, don’t try and cover it up and make like everything was 6,000 years. That’s not the Bible.” 

“If you fight science, you’re going to lose your children, and I believe in telling it the way it was.” 

Okay is anybody else feeling like they just dropped down the rabbit hole?

It was JUST a week ago that Marco Rubio got hung out to dry for refusing to confirm that the earth is 4.54 billion years old and here we have Pat Robertson, the guy that constantly blames devastating weather patterns on sweaty man on man love, saying that the idea that the earth is only 6,000 years old is total bullshit. WTF?

You know why this is happening don't you? It's because God gave Robertson a bad tip in the last election and made him look stupid. What goes around, comes around God. What goes around, comes around.

Three women AIDS activists saying they wanted to highlight the "naked truth" about potential spending cuts in HIV programs were arrested Tuesday after taking their clothes off in the lobby of House Speaker John Boehner's office. 

The trio had the words "AIDS cuts kill" painted on their bodies and had linked arms with four men who also disrobed as part of the protest. The nude protesters, along with dozens of other clothed demonstrators chanted slogans, including: "People with AIDS are under attack. What do we do? Fight back." 

The three women were arrested by Capitol Police as they mingled with other protesters in the hall outside Boehner's district office after putting their clothes back on. The naked male protesters appeared to have left. 

"People with AIDS are sick and tired of being pushed over the cliff," said Jennifer Flynn, 40, of New York City, who was among those arrested. "We need to make sure they stop going after people with AIDS." 

What? Only the women were arrested? What in the hell is that all about?

Especially since being topless in DC is perfectly legal.

How doomed are conservatives? Pretty doomed, if you look carefully at the Pew Research Survey’s close analysis of the youth vote in the 2012 elections. The Republicans’ long-term dilemma has generally been framed in racial terms, but it’s mainly a generational one. The youngest generation of voters contains a much smaller proportion of white voters than previous generations, and those whites in that generation vote Republican by a much smaller margin than their elders. What’s more, younger voters supported President Obama during the last two election cycles for reasons that seem to go beyond the usual reasons — social issues like gay marriage and feminism, immigration policy, or Obama’s personal appeal — and suggest a deeper attachment to liberalism. The proclivities of younger voters may actually portend a full-scale sea change in American politics.

Ahh! This is the kind of early morning post that puts a smile on your face for the entire day.

The idea that perhaps someday soon the racism, class warfare, and hypocritical moralizing that seems to  define today's Republican party might come to an abrupt end is perhaps the most uplifting news possible.

However, though I don't want to rain on any parades, I do feel obligated to point out that we have seen a generation like this before. They were the Baby Boomers, and they were FAR more liberal, less warlike, and better educated than their parents and their parent's parents, and yet something happened to them.

They (we) ended up helping to elect Ronald Reagan, free love hippies evolved into money focused yuppies, and somehow we seemed to lose direction, until ultimately we became the very establishment that we had railed against only a handful of years before.

I hope against hope that we do not witness this same scenario play out once again.

Voting for Romney is like hooking up with the last single person at the bar at 4 a.m. The only successful thing he did this year was embody every black stand-up comedian's impression of a white person. Thank God the election's over. No more endless photos of Mitt staring winsomely off-camera with that attempted smile on his face. No more glaring campaign mishaps week after week after week. 'CROSS' - 'Fit'

Heard this term lately? "Crossfit"

Its all about the workout to keep your body fit. As hard as it is, the workout helps keep your body fit, from push ups, box jumps, weights..  and more to strengthen your body and to keep it fit. In the past few years, I guess I've turned out to be more health conscious and to keep myself fit. Good for me!! ;-) Crossfit hurts when you're doing it but your body feels good and fit. yaayyy for good workout!!! : D and bad for me when I get lazy ;-)
So I was thinking about this term and how it applies to our lives spiritually and what role Jesus plays in "Crossfit". Its simple. Our Lord Jesus gave his life for us on the CROSS so we can be forgiven and if each of us submit ourselves to him and remember the sacrifice at the cross, repent for our sins, he makes us spiritually FIT!

His word speaks his sacrifice for us, In Matt 20:28 - "The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many"

When we trust Christ for our salvation, essentially we are making a trade. I believe this is something very important that every single should find in the Lord. If the Lord wants one to be single till a certain period of time, one needs to learn and understand how the Lord wants them to use that singleness, maybe to be an encouragement to someone, to serve someone, to support, to honor and glorify the lord with what he has blessed one with (this is a CONSTANT) and most importantly to draw near to him (this is a CONSTANT and should not change..)

Work environment is stressful at times and considering you deal with people from different backgrounds and different mentalities it important how you handle yourself. Agree??
I'm surrounded with engineers, floor technicians, manufacturing environment, there is pressure to do things right, following a process and communication finds its place at the front. What kind of 'words' you use is so important. The reason I think it is important is, some of colleagues really nice and smart people to work with but start using some bad words when they are annoyed, when there is a difference in opinion and I've noticed that in a manufacturing environment.
Personally and to be honest, my ears would start hurting me when I hear them or some of them say those words. I would think to myself how do I tell them its not right to use such words and not hurt them since we have to work together and they are nice people to work with. 
But, god's word guides us how we need to speak, like in Eph 4:29 "Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear"  Psa 141:3 "Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips"
How would I handle this? Well, god is amazing right!! so, couple of weeks back, when the same thing happened, I smiled at my colleague and told him that the words are bad to use and I would charge them for every bad word they say. Well, both of them smiled back at me, one of them is atleast trying not use those words when around me and being respectful, its not there yet but, atleast my ears don't hurt as much!! 
Our words matter alot, not only to us as individuals but also others around us.. We need to seek the Lord continuously to give us the right words to speak and help tame our tongues. He alone can guide us...
Have you come across something like that and if so, how did you deal with it with the Lord's guidance?

I read this inspiring article on boundless website. Its so true and important that as a child of god, being single and waiting, we should make our self flexible to serve the lord (flexible schedule) and also find ways to serve the Lord (from big to small things).

There are few things that caught my attention and made me think of how am I utilizing my time serving the Lord serving him and waiting joyfully..

- Doing something radical for the Lord, stepping up intimacy in your walk with the Lord.
- Focusing on pleasing the Lord (drawing near to him, undivided attention on him alone)
- Going big for Jesus!!
- Giving as much as you can ( from time to serve where the Lord has placed you, to financial help as the Lord has blessed you...)
- Purity being single
- Encouraging other singles who need some encouragement.
- Modeling what it means to wait on the Lord with great joy!

Every person who is still single should think about where and how the Lord is calling each one to serve, this includes me too...

I hope this encourages you if you're reading it and wondering where the Lord is calling you to serve him or maybe you are already serving the Lord where he's placed you.

All that matters is honoring and glorifying the name of Jesus and drawing near to him!!!

Noting that half of all pregnancies in the United States are unintended -- a rate unchanged in 20 years -- ACOG said easier access to oral contraceptives could help reduce the number of unintended pregnancies. 

"It's unfortunate that in this country where we have all these contraceptive methods available, unintended pregnancy is still a major public health problem," Dr. Kavita Nanda, a scientist with the North Carolina nonprofit FHI 360 (formerly known as Family Health International), told the Associated Press.

Gee providing easier access to birth control as method of reducing the number of unwanted pregnancies, and therefore abortions in this country.

Hey I just have to say that I am one atheist who LOVES Christmas. Always have.

It was always a very special holiday in my house growing up, and my mom went all out to celebrate it. Still does to this day in fact.

I just wish the Christians had not watered down the Saturnalia celebration quite so much. For instance we could bring this part of the early Christmas festivities back: 

The earliest Christmas holidays were celebrated by drinking, sexual indulgence, singing naked in the streets.

Though I have to say that living in Alaska would keep much of that naked singing to a minimum.

Up through Election Day, Robertson harshly criticized President Obama and the Democratic Party while praising Mitt Romney. Today, responding to a question from a viewer who wondered why her business is struggling since she thought God told her it would be successful, Robertson admitted that he sometimes misses God’s message. “So many of us miss God, I won’t get into great detail about elections but I sure did miss it, I thought I heard from God, I thought I had heard clearly from God, what happened?” Robertson replied, “You ask God, how did I miss it? Well, we all do and I have a lot of practice.”

"You have to practice the presence of God, practice the voice of God, practice hearing from God. And then check to see if indeed you are hearing from him." What does "practice" the presence  or voice of God mean? Does that mean you are supposed to sift through the voices in your head until you identify the one that is not simply the result of a mental illness, and then do what THAT one says?

You would think that in this day and age the minute somebody claimed that God was speaking to them, they would find themselves in a little rubber room with bars on the window and a fancy new straight jacket to wear.

Or perhaps at the VERY least expect that thousands of people would not believe this person has God on speed dial and send him their hard earned money week after week.

Yes I know, since I am an Atheist I simply cannot be expected to understand.  Yeah, bummer for me.

Wednesday night when Ann Romney walked out onto the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, apparently some people were more concerned about her hemline than what she had to say. 

Looking at photos from Ann’s appearance on the show, Mormon blog sites blew up accusing Ann of not wearing her temple garments, something all LDS people are expected to do who've been through the temple. 

One writer on lds.net commented - "The first thing I noticed was there was no way she was wearing garments." Others said "In this picture, it's clear she's not, or that she's pushed up the sleeves." And – "Is it possible Ann is tall enough that they would not have shown when she sat down?" 

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints doesn't like to talk about garments, they consider them sacred. But for people who wear temple garments it's common knowledge that the bottom part is supposed to come down to about the knee. 

Ann's skirt was questionably close, and many web writers came to her defense. On jezebel.com one person commented "I'm a Mormon, I wear temple garments, and I'm having a hard time seeing why it would be assumed that Ann isn't wearing them." Another wrote "She's probably wearing garments. Garments tend to ride up a little bit. The skirt probably just barely covers her garments."

Just imagine if by some miracle Mitt the twit HAD won the election, this is the kind of stimulating underwear centered conversation we could have been having for the next four years. Yep dodged a bullet there!

Still I think the Mormon bloggers are on to something. Using that picture up above for comparison I ALSO think that Latter Day hussy totally went on the tonight Show without her prayer panties on!

I think this is a marvelous idea, and so late in coming.

My daughter truly disliked the dollhouses, and Barbie's my mother gave her as gifts, but after I bought her Star Wars figures and Lego's she would not stop playing with them. In fact THAT fueled her desire to create set designs, and to make movies, which is what she does now.

I think we now realize that teaching little girls to be princesses, housewives, and mommies is outdated. But a present that teaches them that they can be ANYTHING, now that is a gift worth giving.

Cindy Michaels, 46, and Tony Consiglio, 28, shocked their colleagues at ABC’s Bangor, Maine, affiliate WVII with their sudden resignation. The announcement appeared relatively cordial on camera. 

“Some recent developments have come to our attention,” said Consiglio, “and departing together is the best alternative we can take.” 

But off camera, the co-anchors elaborated, citing alleged disrespect from superiors and pressure to do biased journalism, reported Bangor Daily News. 

“I just wanted to know that I was doing the best job I could and was being honest and ethical as a journalist, and I thought there were times when I wasn’t able to do that,” said Consiglio, who was also the show’s executive producer. 

Michaels, also the station’s news director, criticized upper management, with whom she had clear differences. 

“It’s a culmination of ongoing occurrences that took place the last several years and basically involved upper management practices that we both strongly disagreed with,” said Michaels. 

Consiglio started at the station as a sports reporter in 2006. Michaels had been at the station for six years and worked in the Bangor market for 15 years. But the alleged pressure to do shoddy journalism – after a combined 12 ½ years – was too much to take, they said. 

“It’s a little complicated,” Michaels continued, “but we were expected to do somewhat unbalanced news, politically, in general.” 

Neither anchor specified what political stances the management allegedly wanted them to espouse.

While the news team was careful to parse their words, the reason for their frustration was not especially difficult for observers to figure out. This from Raw Story: 

While neither of the former anchors would go on record to detail how they were being pressured to slant the news, some bloggers have speculated that Fox affiliate WFVX had been moving to emulate conservative bias at Fox News. 

The WFVX 10 p.m. newscast is simulcasted on talk radio station WNZS-AM 1340, which also airs shows hosted by conservative personalities Laura Ingraham, Bill Bennett, Mike Gallagher and Michael Medved.

I think it can be assumed, with much confidence, that the two journalists realized that in order to continue working for this Fox News affiliate they would have to walk away from every rule of journalism they have ever learned.

Sadly that has apparently NEVER been a problem for the likes of Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Greta Van Susteren, or the other dispensers of propaganda currently employed by Roger Ailes.

So good for Cindy Michaels and Tony Cosiglio. Hopefully they will not be the LAST TRUE journalists to exercise their right to not spew lies and disinformation on behalf of the Republican party.

First of all scientists examine the evidence and then look for a cause. They don't already have a cause in mind and then look for the evidence to support it. No scientist that I am aware of ever thought of the Flood as the first possibility to explain the fossil record and then went about trying to disprove it.

They instead dated the strata that the fossils was trapped within and used that to date the fossil, a process that has only become more accurate over time.

I find it especially frustrating that the people who created this "textbook" assigned designations of "right" and "wrong," in this case clearly standing in for "moral and "immoral,"  to guide the student toward discerning which competing point of view is correct. Obviously with the increased stress of possibly choosing the one that is "against God."

There is NOTHING scientific in this approach.

It should be pointed out that not only does the Bible mention "Behemoths" it also discusses unicorns as if they were as prevalent and donkeys. So clearly when it comes to an accurate description of animal life is quite accurate don't you know.

In short if you currently living in Louisiana chances are your kid will NOT be the next Richard Dawkins, Carl Sagan, or Neil deGrasse Tyson.
