"Hope".... Is it possible?

A past due post ;-)

Its that time of the year filled with lights, joy, christmas tree and music.. time to celebrate our king's arrival. I sat down to read this story from the book of Luke and looking at the characters involved each one with their own story. Let's start with Elizabeth and Zechariah, children of god, who loved the lord and were upright in his sight. So one would think their life is all happy go lucky! but wait, there is a "BUT" ...Elizabeth was not able to conceive...so now you sense the "waiting" in their life.

Yes its a 'waiting' but 'waiting in hope' a hope that the Lord will see them through in their desire to have a child. When the angel appears to Zechariah, he says "your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear a son.." Luke 1: vs 13

I bet both of them have been praying for years to hear what the angel had just told him. I say many years because vs 7 confirms they were old. Doesn't this remind us of someone else who was in the same boat but his faith in the Lord was like a rock, Abraham....

How hard is it to hold up this banner of HOPE and for how long? and What happens to our faith during this period of holding on to hope?

Does this ring a bell to some situation that each one of us went through or is going through?

I was reading this article few days back and god is just awesome in how he reaffirms certain things. The reaffirmation is what the Lord is teaching me and helping me to learn, live and experience it in my daily walk with him.

"My relationship with the Lord is not just based on my circumstances, like.. I put my complete faith in him when everything is going well for me, I am happy because everything is perfect around me. NO!!
My faith in the Lord is based on my relationship with him for what he did for me many years ago on the cross, for what did for me in the past where he came through when I least expected eventhough nothing is perfect in my life at this point in the present but having the assurance and believing that he will come through according to what he has planned, his agenda.."

In Eph 1:11-12 "In him we were also chosen,[e] having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, 12 in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. "

It can be from the smallest of things to the biggest problem we may be experiencing, the door may seem like its closing or we cannot find a way... where waiting for the person god's chosen for you seems hard, where research seems like never ending, where favor is lacking or nanny doesn't turn up... In all these things our Lord is sovereign and in control.. In all these situations, "Hope" is not a waste of time but essential.

That is what Elizabeth and Zechariah did, held on to what was essential- Hoping, trusting in the Lord and waited for the Lord to come through.

I believe this teaches us to depend on the Mighty one than our own strength which is nothing.. So when we depend on him and when he comes through, his name is glorified through our lives.

So this Christmas season no matter what each of our situation is, there is one thing we can remember and learn is that God sent his son to us and gave us "HOPE".

One must be thinking, its easier said than done!!!.. well, its not impossible...

If we let god to work his agenda than dictating our agenda to him, Hope is possible..

If we make him our focus than our circumstances, Hope is possible...

If we remember his goodness in our lives, his blessings from the past, Hope is possible,,

Lets receive this gift the Lord is giving us this season, the gift is Jesus who is our Hope and trust him in our lives.. even in our doubts.. lets believe in the one true God, Jesus...
