Sex trafficking an increasing business all around the world. As powerful as the hand of god is working in this area through prayer and his children serving in rescue operations, the enemy is paining the victims still stuck in this darkness.
I went on a Van tour a few days ago here in Houston with a local ministry involved in fighting this battle of trafficking. The purpose of the tour is to open one's eyes to this issue, a call to persevere/intercede in prayer daily and support this battle. One of my dear friends who went on this tour took another step after the tour to support a girl child in India to protect her from being trafficked like her mom.
We were around 12 of us who went on this tour with 2 folks from the local ministry. We didn't drive to far off places but just spots within the city of Houston and to notice this issue happening open in the city. Houston is the biggest port for trafficking here in the USA. One of the happening areas, the heart of the city has places which one wouldn't imagine. The first thing you notice eventhough the surrounding areas are lightened is the darkness and calmness at that specific spot during normal hours. We stopped at our first stop at a happening place and the ministry worker explained how the brothel was closed down.
The first thing you would notice sitting in the van is less lights outside the building, no cars parked during normal working hours and the entrance barricaded with iron bars. The ministry worker explained how they as team go to reach out to the girls inside these places. Trafficking which is basically an exploitation of a girls vulnerability, comes true because these innocent girls are promised jobs, money to provide for their family and are now trapped in this bondage from where they cannot run out out of their own free will.
One of the areas just shocked me with an painful and overwhelming feeling to see a street full of brothels and an elementary school next to of them. People who do not know or understand the reality of trafficking think bad about the girl or the women in this business but the reality is different from what we see. Eventhough their heart wants freedom, they are bound to it by the 'Johns' who sell them for simple needs...
The girl looses her individuality,her identity, her self-respect, raped every hour.... As painful as it is to write this and to read this, if one can just imagine what the little 11/12 year old girl or even a woman who goes out only so her family is fed goes through every day.
This week I was reading an article about one of the Olympic champions and how she lead herself into the escorting business eventhough she had all her material needs met. One would start cursing her or would think "how could she do it and destroy her life and family?"... yes, how could she? and shouldn't she be happy and satisfied because she has everything compared to the other women who are in this business....Its easy to judge someone just watching from outside, this champion did not meet JESUS!!! the one person who gave her victory, the one person who could rescue her out of the depression she was going through. I dont know if she was introduced to the one person who would love her unconditionally and help her survive the pain she was going through.. I just ask the Lord to send someone into her life who can reach out and introduce her to JESUS so can be saved from this bondage...
I think about this situation back home with similar trafficking issues. But, I praise God for his children ministering in this area. One state that burdens my heart the most is West Bengal where I believe there is so much need..... hoping to visit some day to reach out...
Women and young girls are trafficked from surrounding places to India into a life of bondage.. ministries like BTC, IJM, As our own are serving to deliver and save each girl child....
One important thing that each of us can do, if you're reading this is to pray for the deliverance of the women and children, for a wake up call to the men to live a clean life and to be introduced to Jesus... Pray, Pray, Pray for the Lord to move mightily in this area....
