I've been thinking about the title the past few days. I was listening to this song "I will follow" by Chris Tomlin, I've heard this song multiple times but it was different listening to it this time. Do we sing it like we mean it?
Where you go, I'll goWhere you stay, I'll stayWhen you move, I'll moveI will follow
All your ways are goodAll your ways are sureI will trust in you alone
Higher than my sideHigh above my lifeI will trust in you alone
Where you go, I'll goWhere you stay, I'll stayWhen you move, I'll moveI will follow you
Who you love, I'll loveHow you serve, I'll serveIf this life I lose, I will follow youI will follow you
Light unto the worldLight unto my lifeI will live for you alone
You're the one I seekKnowing I will findAll I need in you aloneIn you alone
Where you go, I'll goWhere you stay, I'll stayWhen you move, I'll moveI will follow you
Who you love, I'll loveHow you serve, I'll serveIf this life I lose, I will follow youI will follow you
In you, there's life everlastingIn you, there's freedom for my soulIn you, there's joy, unending joyAnd I will follow
Where you go, I'll goWhere you stay, I'll stayWhen you move, I'll moveI will follow you
Who you love, I'll loveHow you serve, I'll serveIf this life I lose, I will follow
Where you go, I'll goWhere you stay, I'll stayWhen you move, I'll moveI will follow you
Who you love, I'll loveHow you serve, I'll serveIf this life I lose, I will follow youI will follow youI will follow youI will follow you
Easy to sing? To say "Yes Lord! I will follow you where ever you ask me to go!!" I've been thinking about this all this month. Do I really mean it when I sing "where you, I'll go, where you stay, I'll stay, When you move, I'll move.. I will follow you..."
I was watching and listening to the teaching from Urbana and Passion conferences, encouraging students to listen to the call from the Lord in their lives and follow him where he calls them to be... like if the Lord calls me lets say...to travel back home.. say.. West Bengal to serve him, am I ready to say yes to the Lord?
I was listening to David Platt speak at the Urbana Conference from Luke 9: 57-62 , the cost of following Jesus. Platt explains powerfully the worth of our Lord and following him.
- Jesus is worth of all our trust
- Jesus is worthy of all my plans and dreams
- Jesus is worthy of all my affections
Listening and obeying to what the Lord is calling us to serve him... I heard different testimonies of his children who obeyed the call.. they are just ordinary people who took the step to do extra ordinary things for our mighty god... I believe they sing this song "Follow you" like they mean it :)
Its not just rushing with the call in excitement but allowing the Lord to prepare us for this call in every way.. spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically... because its his Holy spirit that prepares us and our Lord who pours life into these dead bones so one is ready when its time (remembering this teaching by Louie Giglio from the Passion conference).
I want sing this song like I mean it... to follow him where he calls me to and when he calls me..I want to Yes your Majesty.. nothing more, nothing less.just follow Jesus!!
